Students have started an investigation with tomato plants to build on their understanding of the conditions for best growth for plants. This topic will also be linked with our writing and investigations into different environments in Asia and Australia.
One group has already discovered that salinity is a major problem for plant growth with all of their plants lasting about a week in the saturated solutions prepared. They are now very carefully looking after their control plant and will be investigating salinity issues.
The students have to be very organised with their investigations with regular jobs for all members of the group and measurements and observations to be made. The final report with analysis of the results will be completed towards the end of term - with hopefully some fruit to show for their efforts too!

Red group are investigating different amounts of water |
Plants in the salinity group didn't survive the solution and some of the fertiliser groups are also struggling to survive |
