Students in Room 15 have been using their measurement skills to solve problems involving perimeter and area. We enjoyed a hands-on lesson measuring the boundaries of the school oval, basketball court and undercover area. We discovered that using a trundle wheel may not give us very accurate measurements. With regular shapes it is more accurate to use a calculation.
Students then used a formula to calculate the area of regular shapes and composite shapes by breaking them into parts.
