Citizenship Project

2020 Darling Range Portfolio
and
Citizenship Project
All students in Year Six are invited to participate in a Citizenship Award Project. The information about the Citizenship Project is in this Citizenship Project Document link. Printing of the goals and marking rubric have been printed off for each student to complete. The balance of the document provides information on project ideas, timeline and work samples.

At the end of Term Three, the Principal and Administration team will choose the top three projects to be forwarded to the Darling Range Learning Community, for final interview and selection for the Citizenship Awards.

The Darling Range Portfolio underpins the Citizenship Project and is to be completed by Week 9 of Term Three, by all students, as part of the curriculum. Work on the Citizenship Project will greatly assist the student's depth of knowledge about citizenship towards the Final Interview and Awards. To assist you with the completion of the Portfolio, here is a link to a PowerPoint, which gives more detail to support the project criteria.  Don't forget to gather pictures, letters and certificates to support your Portfolio. The more evidence, the better!

Citizenship Project Term 3 update

Projects should be finished by the end of Week 7.
Presentations of projects will be in Week 8. (Prepare to give a two minute oral presentation supported by your digital or hard copy of the project)
Draft/finished portfolios to be available to support project presentation.
During Week 9 Ms Roberts and the Administration Team will view projects and portfolios to create a short list for presentation to them. The chosen top three students will then represent our school at an interview by members from the local community, repeating their oral presentation.

Portfolios are to be completed by the end of Week 10 for assessment by staff and Administration.

Welcome to the Citizenship Pages
Over the next few weeks we will post information about the requirements for this task. Students need to be thinking about a project they can do to help in the community.

To assist you with the completion of the portfolio is a PowerPoint which gives more detail to support the criteria.  Keep gathering pictures, letters and certificates to support your portfolio.

Citizenship Portfolios and projects are to be handed in by Friday, if not already done so. Students have been completing work in class and should have supplemented their portfolios as homework. All portfolios are due on Friday, with no exceptions.

Once portfolios have been viewed by Year 6 teachers they will be forwarded to Ms Roberts and the Admin team. They will then make a short list for interviews with Administration.

Three portfolios will be selected to represent our school and will be forwarded to Darling Range Learning Community for final selection. Representatives will be interviewed by the Mayor of Kalamunda, date to be confirmed.

All students who complete portfolios are invited to the Citizenship Awards Night to be held on Tuesday 21st November (Week 7). We hope that one of our representatives will be in the running for an award on the night. In any event, students have learnt valuable skills in reflecting on their role in the community.
