Wreath making for ANZAC Service

As part of our work on ANZACs we made a wreath and poppies with our buddy class. The poppies are a symbol of remembrance. The students will be wearing their poppies at the service and laying a wreath made by the students of both classes.

Thank you to Ali and Jin-Ai from Room 11 and the student councillors from Room 14 who will lay the wreath at the flagpole on behalf of all the students.

Solar Boat Challenge

McKenna and Toby are currently participating in a PACES program at the Darling Range Sports College. As part of their programme they competed in the Synergy Schools Solar Challenge. Toby's team came second in the semi-final and as a result went through to the finals held at Optus Stadium on Tuesday 10th April.

Breaking News!!!
The competition was very strong and Toby's team came fourth in the finals, this time beating the team who won in their semi-final round.

Merit Certificate Winners

Congratulations to Daniel, McKenna, Trey and Toby on earning a merit certificate at our Senior Assembly.

Congratulations to Toby for also winning the Science certificate and Naznin the values certificate.
Assembly Item - Room 11 and Room 22

Congratulations to all the students in both classes. They worked very hard to learn their parts and the words to the songs for our assembly. As our item was close to our ANZAC Service we combined our learning in the classroom with our item.

Thank you to my team of helpers who helped with the painting of the back drops for our item. Thank you to Mr Sanderson for all his work on the script and the sound system (including special effects!!).

We began our item with a song mix," Tipperary and Pack up your troubles", which showed the joyful and hopeful beginning of the war, when the boys signed up for 'the grand adventure' as they saw it. Most people believed they would be home for Christmas but in fact the war dragged on for over four years.

Our item then moved to the Western Front and the hospital stations. The ANZACs were well known for their ability to laugh at themselves and make jokes about the dreadful conditions. We demonstrated this with a 'Doctor, Doctor!' skit.

Several students then performed a skit, based around the 'Horrible Histories' program called "Life in the Trenches." This was really well enacted and gave some very interesting, if sometimes disgusting information.

Our final item was the song 'Last Night I had the Strangest Dream" which wrapped up our information on the war with a call to end all wars and live in peace. A big 'thank you' goes to Mr Honey for giving up his time and accompanying the song on the guitar.

Students conducted themselves, in this informative and sometimes amusing item, at all times with the needed respect for our ANZACs and the sacrifices they made for our country.
Summer Carnival

Congratulations to all the students who competed at the recent carnival. It was a pleasure to see you all competing on the day and demonstrating good sportsmanship.

Cricket 'A' Team
Cricket 'B' Team
I really enjoyed working with the two volleyball teams on the lead-up to the carnival. It was great to see the commitment the students made in learning this game. On the carnival day we improved our skills so much. A huge congratulations goes to the Volleyball A team on their win.

Reports on different environments

Students have been researching the different biomes (very large ecological areas on the earth’s surface, with specific fauna and flora) around the world and were then asked to write a report on a particular biome that is found in Asia. We found out lots of interesting information to include in our 'Big Write' session. Please enjoy some samples by clicking on the picture below:
