Book Week

On Friday, Week 6, Students enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character for the Book Week Parade. Please enjoy the pictures below showing our class marching with our buddy class. As part of our work for Book Week students have been completing various tasks about their favourite books and characters. We made a poster to promote the location of their book using their ICT skills and presented a speech about a character.

Aboriginal retell of Dreamtime Stories

As part of our work on Australian history we read Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. The students then had to retell the story in their own words and draw a picture based on the story using traditional colours and designs.

BUZ (Build Up Zone) Together Life Skills Program

We are running a new Health program this term with the assistance of our School Chaplain, Mrs Bennett. The BUZ program focuses on the development of social skills. The program will help the students build and maintain successful relationships, cooperate with each other and solve problems. We would like to thank Mrs Bennett for her work in supporting the students learning in our classroom.

Last week the students had to cooperate with each other to stand up whilst linked back to back. We like a challenge in our class. This was a very popular activity which stressed the need of working together.

Tyriq and Jack managed to stand up the quickest. Working together they stood up in under 5 seconds. They weren't as fast for the repeat performance

NAIDOC Day

NAIDOC Day is normally celebrated on the first week in July, which fell on the school holidays. We celebrated Aboriginal culture during Week 2, reading 'Dreamtime' stories and retelling events during Big Write. We have drawn pictures to reflect our stories using Aboriginal styles and colours. On Friday we made damper in the morning and then participated in a range of activities to find out more about the Aboriginal culture.

My School Rules

In Week One the students were tested on their general knowledge to see who would represent our school at the 'My School Rules' competition. Students completed a written test and mock competition to see who was quickest on the buzzer. Congratulations to Afnan, Shae Lyne and Benjamin from Room 15 who made it into the team. The first round against the other schools starts in Week 5.
