STEM

As part of our Science program, students have enjoyed using the electronic invention kit called 'Makey Makey'. We have been using different materials and identifying conductors to control a program on the computer. The students have had a lot of fun with this whilst learning about electrical circuits and some coding.

Literacy Pro Certificates

Congratulations to Shiam, Michael and Sava who have earned their Blue Certificates recently. Congratulations to Jazib for earning his Red Certificate. We are aiming for everyone in the class to have earned a certificate before the end of the year.

Merit Certificate Winners

Congratulations to Alona, Noah, Holly and Iraj, on earning a merit certificate at the last Senior Assembly, on the 8th August.

Congratulations also to Travis who earned a merit certificate for Sports at the last Senior Assembly, on the 8th August.

NAIDOC Week

During Week 2, we celebrated NAIDOC week by participating in a variety of activities. On Monday, students attended a special assembly and sang an Aboriginal song. Two of our students, Travis and Zanetta, had the opportunity to help make a 'Bush Tucker Garden'.

We got together with our buddy class to complete a mapping exercise with names in the Noongar language. The students love working together and learning new words.

In class, the students have been reading Aboriginal stories and drawing storyboards to reflect the main events. We will be using these storyboards to write a narrative retell of the story in writing.

Creative Coins

The Term 2 Student Representatives completed their fundraising during NAIDOC Week. Students were asked to lay their coins in the design of a boomerang. All money raised by the Reps went towards the Year Six leavers gift.

Constable Care

As part of our Health program, students have been investigating road safety and cyber safety. In Week 7 we watched an entertaining sketch by members of the Constable Care program. Students were reminded of the need to be wary of sharing passwords and passing on any information to people we have never met. More information on cyber safety is linked on this blog.
