Telethon Fundraiser

Anxiety is very stressful and hard to get used to. It often makes you feel alone, depressed, helpless and different. For a kid, anxiety is really difficult. The global COVID-19 pandemic has triggered anxiety in a lot of West Australian children who are not used to being scared and feeling this way.

My name is Saxon and my goal is to help all children understand that it is ok to be scared and to help them learn about it.

I have created an online support page where children and their families can learn, share and contribute to the Telethon Kids Institute, who research and monitor the well being of Australian children.

Welcome back to all the students who are now back with face-to-face teaching. I would like to thank all those parents who supported their children with the home learning packages and use of 'Connect'. The students carried on using 'Connect' in the classroom, as part of their preparation for transition to high school.

ANZAC Ceremony

ANZAC Day was very different this year both at school and at home. We had a small ceremony at school with those students attending the last week of school and the staff. Students and Staff laid a wreathe at the flagpole and we all observed a minute's silence.

On Saturday morning, 25th April, my family commemorated ANZAC Day from the top of our drive. We listened to the service broadcast on the local radio and once again observed a minute's silence. I had made ANZAC lanterns, decorated with poppies, which was a small glimmer of light at dawn. It was quite a moving time, with the backdrop of noise from the kookaburras and magpies, which was very fitting in these changing times. I hope you all had a moment to reflect on the service of the ANZACs.

Some students were able to send in their poems for ANZAC Day. Please click on the picture below to view poems from Osman, Ava, Saxon and Ruairi.

Buddy Class

In Week Seven, we worked with our buddies in Room 24. We have been helping our buddies draw around their hands and then cut them out as part of a health activity. We're also going to use the hands to make a friendship tree for Harmony Day.  We have also set up a regular reading session with students from Room 11 visiting twice a week to read with their buddies.
